From the wilds of British Columbia comes this precocious effort
from one who has absorbed pianist Charlemagne Palestine's minimalism
as well as Nurse With Wound's subterranean electronic sound manipulations.
A brilliant future beckons him.

Invitations are often arts best friend, providing boundaries
within which ideas can be explored and frustrations overcome.
The sound experimenter CJ Einar and his Piedmont Sorpid project
contains meditations on tape loops, lining up cassette players
and fucking with recordings. The result is a meditative, ambient
experiment in sound that balances lo-fi environmental recordings
with industrial noise and melodic stabs of keyboard and poorly
recorded guitar. The pace of The Sugars Of The Eyes is
stately, thoughtful and considered. As he gains access to better
equipment, Piedmont Sorpid has a potential to grow in any number
of directions.
James Keast.
