The End of Time : Directed by Carl Jacks
Conceived as the unofficial sequel to 2007's homegrown BC whitewater kayaking film "No Purpose : No Design," the enigmatic End of Time picks right up from where NPND last left off. Reminiscent of its predecessor, TEOT focuses on the flawless forging of free-from digital editing with a myriad of musical syncopation. Merging lucid whitewater visuals with ambient inspirations, TEOT welcomely incorporates pure artistic freedom in the now somewhat contrived mountain sports film domain. Wetting up as a uniquely imaginative slice of both visual art and paddling entertainment, TEOT also includes a promotional plug for what is being titled as the Endangered Creeks Expedition - 2008 (ECE). This independent, multi-disciplinary team event is set to take place over a yearlong crusade to video and photo document numerous West Kootenay Creeks that are being threatened by an unjustified influx of "Run-of-the-River" Independent Power Projects (IPPs). Motivated by a devotional interest in protecting these dynamic environments for future generations, the ECE team plans to present their message in a traveling multi-media production sometime in early 2009.
Currently, the BC Government is poised to transfer ownership rights to over 500 of these wild and scenic parts of BC. This could mean the building of hundreds of independent power plants in watersheds throughout the province, without any adequate review of the environmental or community impacts. This will result in incalculable damage to wild and scenic rivers do through road building, habitat destruction, water-diversion and a maze of new transmission lines.
We here at Dainty Deathy Productions stand firmly behind all of those who are working hard to protect our environment and we will continue to do our very best to promote the efforts of these many individuals in the time that comes.©2008 : Dainty Deathy Productions : email
